Stoics are Contradictingly Passionate!

Sya si Zeno: no relation to Susie

Na curious lang ako sa word na Stoic. Bakit nga ba naging Stoic ang mga Stoics?

Ang Stoics ay tawag sa mga taong sumusunod sa Stoicism(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stoic) o mga turo ni Zeno of Citium ng Athens noong third century BC. Itinuturo ng Stoicism ang :

emotions; the philosophy holds that becoming a clear and unbiased thinker allows one to understand the universal reason (logos).”

Base sa common understanding natin, kapag sinabing Stoic ang ibig sabihin ay devoid of Passion. Pero iba kasi ang ibig sabihin ng Passion ng mga Stoics. Sa kanila ang Passion ay paghihirap or mga destructive emotions. At para maging Stoic ka, dapat ikaw ay hindi apektado ng Passion. Medyo misunderstood lang ang mga Stoics dahil dedma sila sa mga paghihirap sa paligid nila, pero kung tutuusin, very passionate ang mga Stoics, passionate sila sa kanilang craft at overcoming desctructive emotions. O diba, by being Stoic I have achieved self-control and fortitude as means of overcoming desctructive emotions. Mwahahahaa!
