Book Review: (George Soros) The New Paradigm for Financial Markets. Nose bleed ito!

Sa pagtuklas ko ng passion sa buhay ko, naisip ko na, a great way to start rekindling your passion is by reading a book on a topic that you like. So nung nagkaron ako ng pagkakataon, punta naman ako agad sa National Bookstore.

Syempre tingin muna sa mga naka display na newly published books at mga “best sellers”, nang makita ko yun libro ni George Soros titled “The New Paradigm for Financial Markets: The Credit Crisis of 2008 and What it Means”.

The best! Swak na swak, dahil isa sa hilig ko ay ang topic tunkol sa stock markets. Lalo na ngayon napapanahon yun topic nun book dahil sa credit crisis. And what a better-rer than better way to stimulate your Passion, than to, get in the great minds of the financial market like George Soros. Dissect their brains and analyse how they think.

Bili ng libro. Uwi agad. Pagdating sa bahay, tanggal ang platic at sinimulan ko nang basahin.

Basa ng Introduction, excited pa:

(First paragraph, first sentence) We are in the midst of the worst financial crisis since the 1930’s … (self check: ok pa..naintindihan ko pa ). In some ways it resembles other crises that have occurred..blah..blah…blah

(Second paragraph) To understand what is going on, we need a new paradigm. The current prevailing paradigm, namely that financial markets tend towards equilibrium, is both false and misleading….. (Ano daw? Equilibrium? Bakit may physics dito?).

(Third paragraph) …and this made me question the assumptions on which the theory of perfect competition is based, in particular , the assumption of perfect knowledge…(dinudugo na ata yun ilong ko….. ) .

(Fourth paragraph)…..zzzzzzzzzzz…….

Sa awa naman ng Dyos, na-nga-ngalahati na ako sa libro at hindi ko pa naman kailangan ng blood transfusion. Medyo gets ko na yun utak ni pareng George, same wave length na kami!

Lesson learned on discovering your passion: Wag maging atat! Don’t jump the gun, take baby steps or else your thirst to bring passion back will just be drowned by too much detail. (Sana Pugad Baboy na lang yun binili ko :p )
